Nutrition Consulting

What is it?

Nutrition is the science of food. The nutrients present in food are used by your body as a source of energy and as a building material. Nutrition can teach you about food digestion, nutrient absorption and elimination.

During a consultation, a Registered Nutritionist will asses the nutritional level of your personal food intake (including the nutrient content, amount of food and food combination) and help you to plan a healthy diet. She will also stress importance of fluids in your diet and the effect of fluids on your physical and mental health.

The consultation will also teach you about food additives and how to use the information provided on food labels to identify, critique and evaluate food products for nutritional value. You will be provided with instructions about proper storage of food to preserve the majority of nutrients and how to shop wisely and economically to obtain proper food.

During a consultation you will learn how to change your nutrient content in order to improve your health and prevent disease.

What does it do?

A consultation with a Registered Nutritionist will give you the information you need to know what to eat and how to combine food to get enough nutrients to feel energized and satisfied while maintaining a desired weight. You can also learn:

How to read food labels to be informed about food preservatives, colors, bleaching, dough conditioning agents, texture-modifying agents and other components of food.

What to do to ensure that your child gets all the nutrients he or she needs for proper development of the brain and whole body, including how to deal with picky eaters and obesity in children.

What should teenagers eat to guarantee that they have enough nutrients necessary for growth and development, which will prevent anemia and malnutrition.

To find ways to eat balanced meals during pregnancy to make sure your developing child gets enough nutrients.

How often and what should elderly people eat to make certain they ingest enough food and fluids.

Cholesterol management and prevention of diabetes

How athletes can eat to build strong muscles and have endurance without taking supplements.

How to prepare simple, fast and healthy meals.

How to combine foods to get complete protein and the right amount of nutrients (vitamins, minerals) to stay healthy and avoid commonly occurring diseases.

To make diet changes that can relieve constipation and prevent serious diseases (colon cancer, diverticulosis, hemorrhoids).

How to effectively lose weight, and what to do to maintain the new weight.

What do I need to know?

During a session, the Registered Nutritionist will evaluate your present meal pattern and will give you practical advice on how to improve nutrition and eating habits to lose weight, improve high blood pressure, manage diabetes and high cholesterol, and other health conditions. All this will be done completely naturally without the use of any special diets or nutritional supplements. She will recommend food you like to eat and other changes to your lifestyle that you will be able to follow.

The nutritionist will give advice on healthy eating, grocery shopping, nutrition for infants, children, teenagers, pregnant women and the elderly. She will also help you learn how to eat enough nutrients during a transition to vegetarianism.
